HRMbyDesign Letter Writing Campaign
The motto of Citizens for Halifax is "Building The Most Vibrant and Liveable City in Canada". Therefore, one of the seven position statements embraced by the members of CFH in the society's 2008 inaugural annual meeting is:

"The adoption of a more transparent and streamlined development process as proposed by the HRM by Design initiative."

On May 5, 2009, HRM city council will begin the voting process for HRM by Design. The public will be heard and then city councilors will debate. To familiarize yourself with the changes that HRM by Design is proposing, click on any of the following topics to read a short 2-page fact sheet on the issue.

You can show your support for HRM by Design in a number of ways:
  1. Write to your councilor
  2. Attend council's meeting on May 5th and join the speakers list

Writing to your Councilor:

To send a letter to your councilor, you can write your own letter or use the template provided by CFH below:

Submitting a written or vocal comment on May 5 Council Meeting

If you are able to, we encourage you to take a more active role in supporting the new vision for Downtown Halifax. The groups that oppose HRMbyDesign are planning to have a vocal presence during the meeting on May 5. You can attend this meeting and show councilors (those who may base their opinions on the number of people who are physically present during the public forum) that there is significant visible support for HRMbyDesign and not just a silent majority.

Please find below the steps to follow in order to add your name on the Speakers list. Council is obligated to hear every person whose name appears on this list! If you wish to submit a written comment instead of speaking publicly, the instruction below describe how to do that as well.
