Halifax has been my home for the past 10 years and has treated me well. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to contribute to the city as a CFH board member in the years to come.

Issmat Al-Akhali is an international business and marketing professional with a diverse background in the for-profit, non-profit, and NGO sectors. During his time in Halifax, he co-founded a volunteer organization that worked closely with UN initiatives in the post 9/11 era to combat xenophobia in the Middle East and raise awareness of the charter of human rights through grass-root projects in the region. He was later nominated for citizenship by the Province of Nova Scotia and proceeded to launch two business ventures in Halifax. Issmat also maintains a popular online publication (blog) reporting on the latest news and trends in international business, technology, marketing, and politics. His writings appear on The Chronicle Herald, Trend Hunter Magazine, the Yemen Times, and the Observers network of France 24.  He looks forward to help make Halifax the most vibrant and liveable city in Canada!  Issmat is a resident of Halifax.
